‘Soon or at least within the next 48 hours’
One of the officials who confirmed the intelligence called the threat credible and noted that an attack could take place ‘soon or within 48 hours’, as per a report in AP. “We are concerned about the threat picture, and we remain in constant contact through military and intelligence channels with the Saudis. We will not hesitate to act in the defence of our interests and partners in the region,” read a statement by National Security Council, as per AP.
Notably, so far no US embassy or consulate in the Kingdom has issued alerts or any guidance to Americans in the region over the threat.
