According to Scientific American, NASA and a number of other federal, state, and local organizations wargamed an asteroid impact on Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
The scenario showed the discovery of a 70-meter-diameter asteroid just before it entered the Earth's atmosphere. With the equivalent force of a 10-megaton nuclear bomb,
the asteroid would explode eight miles above the city. Thousands of people would die in the explosion, which would completely destroy the city and its surroundings.
First off, it would be too late to detect a destructive space rock traveling toward Earth for a deep impact after a few days, a few weeks, or even, most likely, a few months.
the organization said in a statement released on Monday (Nov. 7). NASA is only one week away from the first launch of the Artemis mission,
which will see humans return to the moon to create a permanent lunar presence and pave the way for future deep space exploration, as long as the storm does not intensify.
